Kobuk was our first Alaskan Malamute and what a lovely boy he was for our first one!!  He started out as a house dog and the "couch potato"  but slowly got moved outside!

With his many health problems he was desexed at 7 months, Kobuk had a heart murmur diagnosed at 12 weeks and also had hip dysplasia. So instead of being my show boy he became my obedience guru!  And he went on some backpacking hikes (without a backpack) and enjoyed the outings immensely.  He always came along to the Sled dog races for a watch, after a health check at 5 years old his heart murmur got downgraded and he went on a few "bunny runs" at the races, making him an honourary veteran! Kobuk was also a companion dog at the Austin hospital, we used to visit on a fortnightly basis to the patients and residents there and he would bring a smile to their faces.

Kobuk was my first mally and made the best impression on me, it is because of him that I got more involved in the breed and decided to get more dogs!  Kobuk sadly passed away in July 2004 quite suddenly of a brain haemorrhage.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him and his memory is treasured by all who had the blessed opportunity to be touched by him.

RIP beautiful boy our "star in the sky" you are in our hearts forever.
